Haiti

At 16:53:09 local time on Tuesday, 12 January, 2010, the nation of Haiti - the poorest in the Western Hemisphere - was struck by a catastrophic magnitude 7.0 earthquake centred approximately 16 miles from Port-au-Prince, the capital city.

The International Red Cross has stated that as many as 3 million people have been affected by the quake, with as many as 100,000 deaths likely, according to the prime minister.

Port-au-Prince is flattened. All the hospitals are gone.

If you're the praying kind, kindly pray for Haiti. But don't stop there. Open your wallets and veins.

The Red Cross needs your money and your blood to help rescue the trapped and wounded.

Doctors Without Borders have mobilized hundreds of medical professionals and are on the way to help, but they also need YOUR help.

OxFam is desperately trying to bring clean drinking water to the wounded and affected, as reported earlier today by President Bill Clinton. Again, they need your help.

Fortunately, America's Marines (Semper Fi) are already on the ground, helping rescue the trapped, repair the devastated infrastructure, and clear away the numberless dead. Australia has pledged an initial $10 million for the relief campaign.

Please give blood. Or donate online at the following official institutional websites:
